Basic Blocks
Blocks are one of the fundamentals of all martial arts. Be meticulous when practicing blocks, always try to improve the quality and remember to turn the hands and hips.  All descriptions are based on right hand blocking.

Low Block
Start in right foot forward walking stance.  Extend left hand out to the left side palm down. Place right hand on top of left, palm up, and pivot hips toward left side.  Bring right hand downward using the hips for power, stopping about 6 inches above the right knee while left hand goes to left hip.

High Block
Start in right foot forward walking stance.  Extend left hand out to the left side palm down. Place right hand on top of left, palm up, and pivot hips toward left side.  Bring right hand upwards over the head using the hips for power, stopping arm with a slight angle while left hand goes to left hip.

Inner Forearm Side Block
Start in right foot forward L stance.  Extend left hand out to the left side palm down. Place the right hand underneath the left, palm down, and pivot hips toward left side.  Bring right hand out in front using hips for power, stopping arm in front at about 90 degree angle with knuckles  just under eye height, palm facing in.  Left hand goes to left hip

Outer Forearm Midsection Block
Start in Riding stance.  Extend left hand out front palm down. Right hand reaches behind head palm out.  Right hand swings across the front as left goes to hip, stopping arm in front of left ear at about a 90 degree angle, with knuckles  just under eye height, palm facing in.  Twist hips for power.
